Shark Diving and Viewing

Definitely high up on the list of must do experiences in your lifetime, is to spend time in the water up close and personal  with the Apex Predator , The Great White Shark (Carcharodon Carcharias) the jet black eyes , row upon row of razor teeth ,the immense size  and extendable jaws and make it one of the most feared creatures on earth .
White Shark Expeditions works closely with a team of operators that have successfully logged more contacts with Great White Sharks globally than anybody else.
And Year on year they have maintained the record! AMAZING !
Both Divers and Non-Divers (Viewers) are assured of a secure and wonderful experience.

In the Beginning

The day starts with a scenic drive from Cape Town or Hermanus .We have a door to door collection service available .The Destination is our  lodge in the small village of Kleinbaai , the White Shark Capital of the world .We start with a delicious continental breakfast and a briefing to discuss the current sightings , completing the indemnity forms , fitting of wetsuits and equipment .Then we stroll  down the road on foot to board the custom built catamaran on the slipway .The Catamaran is designed by experts to ensure viewing pleasure and comfort from the begin to the end of your experience .
We will give a short talk on Shark Behavior and Anatomy, both essential to enhance your experiences. You will meet our Boat Captain (trained in  First Aid ) , the Dive Master and our Crew. Next we explain how White Shark Expeditions works with the Sharks in the area of Dyer Island Gansbaai and how you will spend the next few hours Diving and viewing these amazing predators in their home territory.

And now the experience starts

The Crew explains all the procedures and the action starts as we “Chum” the cruise area .Everyone on board waits with baited breath for the first view of a Shark Fin as the sharks swim up the “Chum” Line

White Sharks are wary at first of the boat, so we wait a period for them to settle around the boat. Then we lower the dive cage into the water and allow our first guests to enter the cage. The Specially designed cage can accommodate up to five persons, and you can spend up to 20 minutes in the water face to face with this apex predator
The guests take turns in the cage and can also enjoy topside viewing from the boat while they wait their turn. Shark activity is often close to the surface so top side viewers can feel as close or even closer to the action! Great Whites exhibit similar activity to Whales and are known to Spy Hop and also Breach right out of the water when in pursuit of prey … so be ready for these action shots ..White Sharks may brush the side of the cage, but to date an attack on the cage has not been reported.

Feeling Hungry on Board!

With all the excitement on board you may start to feel hungry. So we have packed a complimentary lunch hamper on board for you to enjoy .On Offer are Fresh Sandwiches , potato crisps , soft drinks and juices.

It has to end

We then return back to Kleinbaai Harbour and take to back to the lodge .Now it is time to relax and share the days experience over tea and scones .After this we drive you back to your original pick up / meeting point.
